Student Selected to attend RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards)

Denali Quionez and Jil Patel, students at Lincoln County High School, were recently selected to attend RYLA.  Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) is an intensive leadership experience organized by Rotary clubs and districts where you develop your skills as a leader while having fun and making connections.  RYLA events are organized locally by Rotary clubs and districts for participants ages 14-30. Depending on community needs, RYLA may take the form of a one-day seminar, a three-day retreat, or a weeklong camp and local Rotary clubs nominates RYLA participants.

 Thoughts from Denali and Jil:

Denali Quionez – “RYLA was such a wonderful experience and I got to make new friends from different parts of the state and we all had so much fun while competing challengers that improved our leadership skills. My favorite part was listening to Dr. Ming Wang; he inspires me, so it was privilege to personally meet him and get my book signed by him.”

Jil Patel - “RYLA was an amazing experience. Throughout the day, I got the chance to meet several new, and wonderful friends. I also got the opportunity to take part in many different activities. These activities were based on the ability to lead and conduct teamwork. I even than the chance to meet some wonderful exchange students. The different challenges bonded us together. It felt as if we had known each other for years. My favorite part of the entire day was when we got the chance to listen to Dr. Ming Wang. He was such a wonderful man, and I’m very happy to have had the chance to meet him.”
