Guidance Department The primary function of the guidance department is to provide services for all students. School counselors are available on a full-time basis to assist students with registration, schedule-making , testing, college and vocational planning and general school adjustment. Personal and group counseling is provided for students concerning the above areas, as well as to assist students with personal and social problems. You should get acquainted with your counselors early in your high school career so that they will be able to assist you with your particular needs. Students are allowed three (3) free transcripts. SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION The Horatio Alger Scholarship has been announced. Students need to apply online at www.horatioalger.com/scholarships. Eligible students must have a critical financial. The deadline for submitting applications is October 30, 2008. The SunTrust Off To College Scholarship Sweepstakes begins in October. Beginning October 31 through May 31, one winner will be chosen every two weeks for a $1000 scholarship. Seniors should apply online at www.offtocollege.info. Eligibility is not based on GPA or financial need. Visit the web site for details and to apply. The AXA Achievement Scholarship has been announced. Students can apply online at www.axa-achievement.com. Applications must be submitted by December 15, 2008. The Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation Scholarship has been announced. Applicants must be a senior with a 3.0 GPA. Students must apply online www.coca-colascholars.org. The application deadline is October 31, 2008. All students are encouraged to enter the Lions Club Drug Essay Contest. Pick up information in guidance. Deadline Nov. 15, 2008.
