A letter to the editor titled "Flyntville and School" on February 22, 1872 of the Fayetteville Observer states: "Perhaps it would interest some of your readers, to hear from our village and school. Well, we have a regular Board of Trustees, and they, in all their wisdom, have employed Prof. Simpson to teach a four month school at $50 per month."
