Jacob Sorrells asummed the Director of Schools position on April 1, 2025.
A native of Lincoln County, Sorrells is a 1995 graduate of Lincoln County High School. He holds a Bachelor's Degree from Middle Tennessee State University, a Master's Degree from Tennessee State University, and an Educational Specialist Degree from Middle Tennessee State University.
Sorrells began his career in Lincoln County, where he taught Social Studies and served as Head Football Coach at Unity School from 2000 to 2002. He then worked as a Social Studies Teacher and Head Football Coach at Lincoln County Ninth Grade Academy from 2003 to 2005. From 2005 to 2007, he taught Social Studies and served as an assistant football coach at Giles County High School.
He started his administrative career as an assistant principal at Marshall County High School before being named principal in 2008. Sorrells served as principal there until 2010. From 2010 to 2013, he was the principal of Lincoln County High School. In 2013, he was appointed Assistant Director of Schools for Marshall County, a position he held until 2016. Since then, Sorrells has served as the Director of Schools for Marshall County.
Upon his return to Lincoln County, Sorrells expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “I am truly looking forward to coming back home to Lincoln County. It has always been my home, and I take great pride in it. I am also very humbled and excited about the opportunity to work with everyone here to continue the success of Lincoln County Schools. Seeing old friends and familiar faces will definitely bring a smile to my face. However, I'm also looking forward to making new friends and building new relationships with the students, staff, parents, and the community. Please know that I am here to give you all that I have, with the intention of offering the students of Lincoln County the best educational opportunities and experiences available to us.”
Mr. Sorrells is married to his wife, Sandy, and they have four children. The Sorrells family resides in Petersburg.
