Amy Clemons has been appointed as the new principal of Lincoln County High School, succeeding Billy Owens, who is retiring. Mrs. Clemons will assume her new role on July 1st.

Expressing her enthusiasm for the opportunity to lead her Alma Mater, Mrs. Clemons brings a wealth of experience to her new position. Over the past two years, she has served as the Assistant Principal/Curriculum Coordinator. Mrs. Clemons began her career at Lincoln County High School in 2004 as a teacher, where she taught Biology, Honors Biology, Physical Science, and Forensic Science.

In 2013-2014, Mrs. Clemons transitioned to the district office, assuming the role of K-12 District Data and Instructional Coach. Subsequently, she served as the Assistant Principal/Curriculum Coordinator at NGA from 2014 to 2019. Following the closure of NGA, Mrs. Clemons played a pivotal role in establishing Lincoln Central Academy, where she served as the principal overseeing virtual school and alternative learning programs. Additionally, she served as the district Pre-K Supervisor for Lincoln County Schools. In recognition of her exemplary leadership, Mrs. Clemons was honored as the Lincoln County Schools’ Principal of the Year for 2021-2022.

A native of Lincoln County, Mrs. Clemons graduated from Lincoln County High School in 2000. She pursued her higher education at Motlow State College from 2000-2002, earning an Associate of Science degree (A.S.) in Biology. She furthered her education at Athens State University from 2002-2004, graduating with a Bachelor's in Education (B.S.Ed.) with majors in Biology, History, and Education. Continuing her academic journey, Mrs. Clemons attended Middle Tennessee State University, where she obtained a Master's in Education (M.Ed.) in Instructional Leadership with an emphasis in Curriculum and Instruction in 2010. She pursued her Educational Specialist degree (Ed.S.) in Administration and Supervision at Middle Tennessee State University from 2011-2013.

Outside of her professional endeavors, Mrs. Amy Clemons finds joy in her family life. She is happily married to Scott Clemons, and they have two daughters, Raegan and Maclane. The Clemons family shares a passion for dance, with both daughters participating in competitive dancing and Raegan being a member of the LCHS Dance Team. Actively engaged in the community, the Clemons family can often be spotted at Lincoln County High School events, reflecting their deep-rooted love for the community and the Lincoln County Falcons. They reside in Lincoln County and relish spending quality time together outdoors, particularly at the lake.

Billy's unwavering dedication, passion for education, and commitment to the success of every student have left an indelible mark on our school and community. His leadership has been instrumental in shaping countless lives and fostering a culture of excellence at Lincoln County High School. While we will miss his presence dearly, we are immensely grateful for his years of service and wish him all the best in this new chapter of his life.
