Judy Conley - Blanche School

Our greatest asset has always been our people – the individuals who breathe life and legacy into every hallway and classroom. We are thrilled to introduce a series dedicated to celebrating the iconic figures within each building—the names and faces that serve as the heartbeat of their schools. We asked, “Who embodies the spirit of our education, and whose dedication and contributions should be given the spotlight it deserves?” Ultimately, we went looking for the answer to one simple sentiment: “When I think of ____, I think of ___________.”

We begin nearly forty-five years ago in a second grade classroom, a place where Mrs. Judy Conley would spend five years before moving to third grade for the next sixteen. In the early 2000s, Mrs. Conley would receive her Library Science Certification and move to Blanche School, where she has remained for the last 23 years. “I found my calling, and I loved every minute of it,” says Conley.

Each day, Mrs. Judy fosters a love of reading and a love for her students. She is passionate, and challenges her students daily to reach their goals. Not only that, she celebrates their successes with them! Parents go on to say, “It’s comforting having someone like Mrs. Judy in my children’s corner.” Fellow teachers also agree. “Mrs. Judy supports what happens in our classrooms, using her time to help teach and review the learning standards,” says one.

During her time at Blanche, she has been a dedicated champion, engaging creator, and creative motivator. Further, she ensures the library is stocked with books for all learners and students at all levels. One of her former students states,

“One of the great thrills of my life was in middle school, when Mrs. Judy let my friends and I pick out the next books for the library to order. There were four or five of us who read almost constantly and had nearly exhausted the library's inventory. It felt like the equivalent of a backstage pass; a total power trip for a twelve-year-old to come sit at the computer and scroll to find whatever it was we wanted to read next.”

For those who know her, love her, and are with her everyday, the consensus is clear. Mrs. Conley is the example of an exemplary employee, willing to go the extra mile, if necessary, and the dependable colleague who steps up whenever unexpected needs arise — from car rider duty and lunchroom supervision to testing and other urgent tasks. Her enthusiasm, leadership, and willingness to help make a meaningful difference in our school community, and her legacy not only at Blanche School but across Lincoln County will last for a lifetime of learners to come.
