Our greatest asset has always been its people – the individuals who breathe life and legacy into every hallway and classroom. We are thrilled to continue a series dedicated to celebrating the iconic figures within each building—the names and faces that serve as the heartbeat of their schools. We asked, “Who embodies the spirit of our education, and whose dedication and contributions should be given the spotlight it deserves?” Ultimately, we went looking for the answer to one simple sentiment: “When I think of ____, I think of ___________.”
For the last 16 years, there has been steady support, a keen kindness, and an ever-present listener in the halls of South Lincoln School. There has been a whole lot of Love. It’s more than her name, it’s what she brings to the school every day. With a cool, calm attitude and a genuine smile, she supports students, staff, and families while keeping the school’s heart beating strong serving as the Secretary. Former and current coworkers share that, “She deserves all the appreciation and honors that can be bestowed on her, for her passion, care, and love towards every person she comes in contact with in every setting. We all LOVE Love!” Love is described as the cheerleader when you need a pep-talk, the shoulder to cry on, and the root of the school. She is there for anything the South Lincoln family needs. From handling phone calls, juggling schedules, and fighting whatever proverbial fire happens to be burning that day, Mrs. Love Brown seems to never have a bad day. “Love always has a smile on her face and never hesitates to help students, faculty, and staff.”
That dedication and desire to help and love others was most evident on April 28, 2014.
Teacher and friend, Mrs. Stacey Price writes, “This was the day that the tornado hit South Lincoln School. Many of us lost everything in our classrooms. Afterwards, I remember talking to Mrs. Love about my college diploma being in my room. Having gone back to college later on in life, my framed diploma was such an important symbol of this accomplishment and so very special to me. Mrs. Love actually went into my destroyed room and got my diploma from the debris for me. Today, it is still displayed on my classroom wall as a reminder of this special achievement in my life, but it will also ALWAYS be a reminder of Mrs. Love and the love she showed me on that day. This is just one demonstration of the loyalty, dedication, and selflessness that Mrs. Love shows EVERYONE in our South Lincoln family each day. She is truly the HEARTBEAT of the Eagles!”
The greatest words of affirmation come from her daughter,
“As her daughter, I've had the privilege to see firsthand how she balances her career and her role as a mother with strength and compassion. She always puts others before herself, even when she's tired and overwhelmed. Her dedication inspires me to work hard, stay focused, and never give up even when times get difficult. One day I hope to be even half the woman she is. Her examples have shaped who I am and I'm so glad to have the privilege to walk in her footsteps. To everyone she is known as Mrs. Love, but to me, she is my mom, and I'm beyond grateful to call her that.”
It is the legacy of Love to love others, and for that... We love her all the more.
